Frequently Asked Questions
What hardware do I need?
Raven Prism AR glasses and an Android phone running Android 8.0 or higher. The glasses connect to the phone over Bluetooth. Xreal Air 2 is supported in tethered mode for early development testing.
Is the app free?
The core game is free during early access. Story season passes will be available for extended narrative content once the game reaches wider release.
What is a distortion?
A distortion is an AR anomaly visible only through Raven Prism lenses. It appears at a specific real-world location and persists until a player resolves it, or until it decays naturally. Intensity ranges from 1 (fleeting) to 10 (entrenched).
What is Attunement?
Attunement is your personal score. Each distortion you resolve adds to it based on intensity. Attunement determines your level and how deep into the narrative you can see.
What is Clarity?
Clarity is the global resolution score: a measure of how much collective work all players have done together. It is visible on the Clarity board to anyone, including people who have not yet started playing.
Can I play without glasses?
The companion app works without glasses for the map and archive screens, but distortion resolution requires the Raven Prism lenses or Xreal Air 2 in tethered mode.
Does the game work offline?
No. The distortion map, real-time events, and Clarity updates all require an internet connection. GPS-based distortion detection also requires the phone to be online.
Is my location data stored?
Location is used only to query nearby distortions and is not retained on our servers. Coordinates are sent from the app to the API and discarded after each request.
How do distortions appear in the glasses?
As AR overlays positioned at a real-world coordinate. The glasses use your GPS position (relayed from the companion app) and the IMU to keep the distortion visually anchored to its location. The effect: chromatic halos and wave interference patterns layered onto your actual view of the street.
What is Area Stability?
A score from 0 to 100 assigned to each active play area. Stability drops as distortions accumulate unresolved and rises as players resolve them. Low stability means more distortions spawn. High stability means Attunement bonuses apply. Stability is a collective metric: your resolutions affect the area for everyone.
Do I need to be near other players?
No. The game is solo by default. Collective effects (Area Stability, Clarity) happen automatically as players independently resolve distortions in the same areas. In Phase 2, group distortion events will require multiple players to gaze simultaneously.
What happens if a distortion decays before I resolve it?
It disappears from the map and from your glasses. No Attunement, no fragment. Decay timers are proportional to intensity: weak distortions decay faster. Dense areas generate new ones regularly.
